Sounds like me the GM says we need to provide better protection. New OL and/or new OL coach.

Trevor should not sign any extension! Play with the tag a year or two and let the Jets, Cowboys or Browns make him the first player with a guaranteed 1 billion dollar deal.

Playing with an injury to your throwing arm, plus an injury to one or both your wheels, plus having his bell rung does absolutely nothing for helping your team to win games.
If the Jags are serious about wanting to keep Trevor long term, they should get Him an all pro offensive line with a couple of good receivers. Make those changes with a generational QB like Trevor Lawrence behind center, the dude will win them a lot of games and help get his team into championship playoff games. IMO, if they will get Trevor what he needs to do his part at a high level, the Jags will be in the playoffs almost yearly.
They can do that through the draft and free agency and stay under the cap rule. If other teams are winning playoff games and Super Bowls by staying within the salary cap, I don't see why the Jags can't do it especially with a QB like the Jags have right now. The teams that win super bowls does it within the rules, or they find a way around the rules just like everything in life that is set up with rules...

He has played hurt. The GM should have addressed their weak OL in the draft and FA .. and not wait until TL was crippled to say “ We may have a problem” .. new GM time ..

We could use one of those better OL’s at Clemson, too.

I always say that NFL GM’s are foolish when they burn a high draft pick to get a ‘franchise’ QB without building the OL first to protect that frachise QB. That’s the equivalent of winning 100 million dollars in the lottery and storing it under your bed in a $10 lock box purchased from Walmart.

Trade trevor to Dallas and the Jags can have Dax. He chokes in the big games and where he throws some balls is a mystery. Dallas will never make it through with him. Tout him with statistics but then go to double digit losses. Trevor can throw tough balls when hes not leaving the imprint of his butt on the astroturff

It’s not quick or easy to build the OL. And you don’t really know when you will have a generational QB fall in your lap. So, it’s not realistic to do it in that order.
But, as soon as you know you have that QB, OL should be an immediate priority if it’s not already a strength.

by framing the quote as if the GM is using Trevor's injury history as ammunition to lower his contract value.

He learned he needs more quality depth on the offensive line.....as well as receivers.
Sounds a little similar...... hmmm..... 🤔🤔

I think THE KEY is TL not get hit as much ...

After all, he is a rather tall, skinny lad. Built more like a racehorse then a draft horse. You have a 300 lb lineman hitting of course something has to give, and its going to be TL.
I guess that's why the NFL gets excited about guys who are built like fireplug who can throw the ball ? I bet if DJ has a good year he gets drafted fairly high, he is durable.

If he stays there, his career will be short. Their OL is a wreck and the WRs are barely average. And it won't get fixed anytime soon. Sooooooo, TLaw, get the heck out of Dodge if you can.

I messaged Baalke and Jags frequently before 2022 & 2023 drafts

to focus on OL. Instead Baalke focused on drafting Defense. Rebuilding too much too fast. Did not focus on protecting TL16 - the franchise. The results are self-evident.

Either spend on oline like the cowboys do or let TL walk. It's pretty simple!!

Lots of issues with this Jags roster.

O line can’t protect or run block. D line can’t stop the run. D ends cannot get to the QB. D backs can’t cover. Need a #1 wide receiver who is dependable.
Solid, QB, RB, TE, #2 receiver (got hurt) 1 defensive player.

“ D ends cannot get to the QB.” - Baalke wet the bed two years ago in the draft with their 1st round pick when he selected GA LB Walker (mid to late round pick) over Hutchinson (Michigan), now with Detroit … Hutchinson’s a beast DE, Walker a late rounder LB still trying to figure it out ..

In order for the Jags to have any type of post-season run next year, they have to focus on a complete revamp of their offensive line and secondary. They have a great RB, franchise QB, outstanding WR weapons, a great tight end and a more than capable front 7. Some may argue that they can't stop the run, but when your secondary is so incompetent that you have to drop your linebackers every play/substitute in another DB to protect against the pass, of course you're not going to stop the run.
