Hope it sticks. He's a 9.5 perfect game infielder.

He’s solid for sure, but PG grades don’t mean a thing!

Well, I'll respectively disagree that it doesn't mean anything. Kinda like football stars. Do they mean anything??? How many teams have won a natty with all 2 and 3 star players?

I'm of the belief that all sports are developmental but a certain amount is pure raw talent.

But, PG grades are different. The only way you get a grade is by paying to go to a showcase and get graded and you never know who's grading a kid on what day. I can show you plenty of kids that never went to a showcase and don't have a PG grade, but would easily be a 9.5 or 10 and had offers from many SEC and ACC schools. And I can show you plenty of 9+ grades that can't play baseball.

Austin Jacobs is a really good defensive player and solid at the plate. Look forward to watching him and the rest of the incoming '24 class. This will be Bakich's first class of all of his players and he has some dudes coming in - Offense, Defense and Pitching. Pick up some portal pieces and the future is very bright for Clemson baseball

Yes. Definitely understand all about showcase events. And I agree with what you are saying. Plenty of well off parents who drag their kid from event to event yada yada. Heck, maybe even wine and dine the evaluater. Even one of our baseball moms educated me about years ago.

That said, when used as a barometer, coupled with the fact our coaches recruited and pursued this kid, I trust his PG grade is legit. And that he did verbal commit to fsu. Hence, I used it simply as a barometer. Thanks. Good discussion. Appreciate the response.

Agree. Based on timeline, think that was previous staff before Jarret got there? Maybe Belanger recruited him and stayed in touch?

I don't think canarella had a PG rating. Either that or it wasn't very high.

No, he didn't , neither did will Taylor. But I watched him play.

Apologies for not qualifying it in the original post. But as I've stated, imo, if we recruit a kid, I feel like the PG grade is legit. Unless I'm missing it somewhere, there's not a lot of recruiting news for baseball players until after the fact and they get drafted.

Purify had a PG of 10 btw. And that's probably a good report too.

Think ‘21 was previous staff before Jarret. Belanger may have recruited him and stayed in touch?
