A family member is pressuring him to go to FSU, but he wants to come to Clemson. He has been in contact with the staff about recommitting.

Shocker: decommits right before we own the team he commits to in front of their home crowd…

Seems to me he wanted to go to Clemson…a family member pressured him to at least look at FSU and go on a visit…family member probably very close like dad or mom…so he needed to go on that visit but if he did then he had to decommit from Clemson, as that’s our rule…he decommits to go on the visit to appease his family member, we offer another guy, he goes on visit and hates it because he loves Clemson and didn’t want to go on the visit to start with…family member is appeased he went on the visit and now understands he really loves Clemson…so now he wants to recommit!!! Makes perfect sense and I bet he will be a Tiger very soon!!! At least I hope so if my theory is correct!!!

If all this is true and he wants to go to Clemson shouldn't he do what he feels best about? He's an adult or soon will be and he is signing the LOI. The family member isn't spending time at the school and busting their behind in practice.

So family members shouldn't have any influence on these kids decisions? Or does that only apply when it negatively impacts our program?

I was making a blanket statement whether it impacts him or Clemson or not. The relative is committing and doing the work.

The only family member that should count is a parent, even then....they should only give advice on what they is best, not pressure. In the end the decision should always be up to the kid who ultimately making his first big adult decision, any true parent should understand that. I would never pressure my child into doing something that they don't want to do.

4 star tackles don’t grow on trees; especially not 6’6 365. You’re a tub of goo for being immature. Take a lap, coot

My concern, if I were a coach of either team.

If it is true that he wants to go to school A, but he is being pressured by family - especially if that family doing the pressuring is parents, then he is torn about what to do.
As a coach, my concern would be, "He's a prime candidate for the portal."
Coming into a program as a freshman is tough. He's dominated everywhere he's played. He's been BMOC. He's been the star. He's been recruited by folks telling him he's heading for the NFL by way of their school. Then, he gets on campus and reality sets in. He's going up against guys bigger, stronger, faster, meaner, and smarter (football wise) than he is. He is being coached harder than he ever has before.
How will he handle this? Regardless of which school he chooses when things get tough will he be saying,
1. "I shoulda listened to my parents. I made a mistake. I'll transfer."
OR
2. "Why did I listen to my parents? They were wrong. I'm a man. I make my own decisions. I'm transferring."
That would be my concern if I were a coach.

Thanks for your concern Bret. You lost this recruiting battle fair and square. Sorry he hated FSU and saw Tallahassee for the dump it really is

I think what Brett is cautioning about applies more to FSU than Clemson. If he was pressured by family to visit FSU and according to reports didn’t have the best experience then committing to the Noles would be a mistake. He committed to Clemson because that was what was on his heart. Dabo reminds them of this before accepting a verbal. Clemson knows he’s 17 and in a difficult family situation (if he’s been honest with them). My guess is that Dabo let’s the staff rebuild the relationship.
