Has the men’s basketball program turned into....

After an up and down season. Finishing with a decent record and locking up a tournament birth. Gets knocked out of first round ACCT. Then matched with a lower seed Rutgers who matched our crummy play, get knocked out first round NCAAT. Now off season exodus of recruits and players.
This is starting to unwind.....
It’s clear the program needs some help.

How did our fans become delusional haters? 5th place conference finish, 2nd trip to the dance in three years including a trip to the sweet 16, two solid recruits still committed, several good transfer players interested in the program, coaching stability with a guy who loves and wants to be at Clemson. Yet somehow you contort yourself to create a false narrative which will only serve to hurt our program. If you are a Clemson fan you should be ashamed of yourself.

I agree. Maybe too many Clemson folks with unrealistic expectation and a Ricky Bobby mentality.

If you know anything at all about basketball you shoukd

Know this team had no structure or flow on offense but benefited from a very weak year in terms of competition in the ACC. We lost to a bad Miami team in the ACC one and done again then had it happen AGAIN in the NCAA tournament vs a team that hadn’t won a NCAA tournament game in 39 years. To say we can’t do better is a defeatist attitude and not healthy for progress.

That bad Miami team was playing well at the end of the season and almost won a 2nd game in the tournament. Your narrative is false...

His narrative is factual. There's nothing false in the post.

Key difference “that bad Miami team was playing very well at the end of the year”
That Clemson team played progressively worse throughout the year and played arguably its worst basketball at the end of the year.
Do you see the difference there?

Two Players Is Not A Dumpster Fire

Georgia has three players in the transfer portal. North Carolina had a player enter the portal. Welcome to college basketball 2021. More than 700 players in the portal.

It certainly seems like there is internal strife...

over who gets playing time, style of play, etc.
When you regress over the year and players are bailing, what else can you conclude?
And make no mistake...this team regressed over the year. Blame COVID if you want, it certainly didn't help.
But there's something amiss about Brownell's ability to 'coach em up'. Seems like he wants to fit square pegs in round holes and is very stubborn.

Lol. Why are people so dramatic? People transfer from basketball prgrams all the time.
We’ve had 1 transfer. It was John Newman and he barely played all year and didn’t really help us while he was in.

Ding ding ding! He wants to force this slow, defensive style that has not worked. It's boring, recruits don't want to play in this system, and he can't get any shooters good enough to make this style work. Despite all that, the strategy never changes.
