The Gaylord Resort is a great place to visit and walk around at a Christmas time. Hard 8 BBQ is a great eating place. There’s a big Bass Pro Shop.......and that’s about it.

All correct, I live 20 minutes from there. If you’re looking for something specific I MIGHT be able to offer some insight.

Definitely check out the Gaylord for the Christmas decor. If you have kids they will enjoy the Gaylord ICE exhibit. Feedstore BBQ is the best in that area. It’s 10 minutes from Grapevine in a town called Southlake. Southlake has a nice town square to walk around and many restaurants. Taverna Rossa is great for pizza.

Downtown Grapevine is awesome. Main Street has a ton of bars and restaurants. Something for anyone on that street. Could rival Sundance Square in Ft Worth or N. Greenville Ave. Good area to stay.

Esparza’s in Grapevine, I personally think the food is average, but their frozen margaritas must be respected. Seriously.

Thanks for all the ideas. We have never stayed in Texas so gotta do a Brisket and we are staying at the Gaylord so sounds like we are in a great spot. Looking forward to some Southern hospitality knowing it dont get better than Clemson. Ready to spot the ball and enjoy the ride. Sipping on some Virgil Kaine some say what's in this drink? (No cabs to be had out there) its cold outside.

The Gaylord is great but I believe it is the team hotel for Notre Dame so be aware of that. Make sure you take in the ICE exhibit at Gaylord. There is a cool trivia night on Thursday at the brewery downtown Grapevine if you are into that kind of thing. Do Hard 8 for bbq/brisket. They catered my wedding. Hit Mi Dia for incredible Mexican food. Get the tableside guacamole covered in bacon. You are very close to Southlake. There is a Del Friscos Grille which is like Del Friscos but half the price. My favorite place in Southlake is Taverna Rossa. Everything is delicious but the correct order is an appetizer of meatballs and stuffed mushrooms, an entree of Spicy Pig pizza and your favorite bourbon. (I will allow you to substitute the bourbon for a nice red wine if you are in that mood). Enjoy your visit! I’m a South Carolina boy and lived in Florida for a while. I moved to the DFW area against my will but I’ve been pleasently surprised. It’s actually a great area!

Plenty to do and things to see - lots of it posted elsewhere. It all depends on how long you are there. I lived North of Dallas for quite a few years, so here's my take
Places to eat not mentioned elsewhere: La Hacienda Ranch (several around) The Ranch at Las Calinas (smoked prime rib is amazing) Hutchins BBQ - in McKinney on Tennesse St (Best pulled pork - better than the Carolinas, Memphis, or Arky) Joe T Garcias (Family Style Tex-mex) Babes (family style chicken) Whistle Britches (chicken again) If you are looking for something fast, WhatABurger (pronounced Whaat-a-burger) or Canes
Things to do - Dallas Arboretum Perot Museum The Star (Frisco - training home of the Cowboys, many restaurants) Deep Ellum - Artsy district with great food and restaurants. Also a brewery with tours (Franconia brewery in McKinney as well) Bishops Arts district Fort Worth Stockyards Legacy Hall (Frisco) Clyde Warren Park (near several museums - lots of great food trucks) If you are staying through the new year, there is first Monday in Canton The Carvana car vending machine in Frisco Cidercade - Hard Cider and vintage video games
Just for $hits and Giggles, go to a Buccee's for a truely everything is bigger in Texas experience. They are the biggest friggin' gas station/tourist trap you will ever see. Nearest one I believe is in Terrel East of Dallas.
I would definitely recommend staying in the Plano/Frisco area. It's about a 45-60 minute drive to the stadium, but it's about 20 min to DFW or DAL (Love Field). There is the Legacy area is loaded with hotels, restaurants, and shopping all within walking distance. It's a little more affordable that other areas as well.

Yeah Hutchins BBQ is the best BBQ in my book. I’m also quite fond of Babes for chicken fried steak.
When I’m back in TX I try to hit what I call the “Texas Trifecta” - brisket, chicken fried steak, and Tex-Mex.

The only thing missing from this list is Texas Live. This is a new complex right next to the stadium and will be a great place to go before the game. 8 restaurants and bars under one roof. If that is too crowded, Humperdinck’s is another sports bar close. They have a shuttle to the game too.

Biggest friggin' gas station I've ever seen and we went in one of the smaller ones.
I had to leave a trail of breadcrumbs just to find my way back to the car.
