Coaching matters!

Look no further than our team as it evolved over the season. But to better make a point, look at where FSU baseball is now a few yrs after Mike Martin retired. They are last in Atlantic, last in conference overall and have a losing record. Big fall for a team that was almost always a tournament team.
I think we got ourselves a good baseball hire and I said that when the hire was announced.

And many people had their new coach link Jarrett as the number 1 coaching candidate last off season.

Both Jarrett and Bakich inherited programs with proud histories which had fallen on hard times.
Did Monte leave Clemson better off than Mike Martin, Jr. left FSU? I really don’t know. It’s Florida State for heaven sakes, they should have talent on that team almost by default. For all of Monte’s shortcomings, perhaps he did leave more talent behind than the nepo hire Martin Jr.
Credit to Coach Bakich for supplementing that talent with difference making transfers and freshmen and of course for the player development and better approach.
Not missing the guys who transferred to USuC with Monte. Brewer is better than he was, but he never lived up to the hype and we upgraded big time with Cannarella. French was not that good here and is not that good there.

I could be wrong but I’m pretty sure FSU started the season number 15. They had to had some type of talent, or they were ranked solely on hype of a new coach.

I just looked it up, they started 32. We started 42. They did make it to the top 20 in the first couple of weeks.

Both Bakich and Jarrett are great coaches. Let's not forget that Bakich went down and grabbed Belanger from FSU. CU's pitching is showing his worth to the team.

Please explain how a 23 win season and a third place ACC finish sucks.

Not hard. No NCAA appearance, losing first round of consolation NIT at home, losing to some of the worst teams in college basketball. I guess that’s a success for you, Neff, and Brownell. 23 wins against weak schedule is hardly a noteworthy accomplishment.

I like your enthusiasm but it’s not a good idea to judge a coaching hire 3/4 of the way through the first season. As an example, many t-net keybored coaches were ready to kick Dabo to the curb early in his tenure

This may sound bad i truly don’t mean it to because you may know like some of us do but as a baseball guru that knows the game very well, knows this team and program very well, I can 100 % judge our coaching after 51 games. We have 5 left in regular season. Anybody who really knows baseball and knows how our previous teams played and developed compared to this team. It’s night and day. If we get a national seed and win a regional then as long as we don’t have a major Cinderella in Omaha, Bakich is headed toward ACC and national coach of the year

Does anybody recall a baseball team starting conference play like this team did and then winning 6 series in a row? Has to be coaching.

So I guess Monte should have never been fired?

You may want to be careful bragging about how much you know about baseball if you’re gonna spout nonsense. Go back and check his record through this point. (Hint: it was pretty much even with Bakich’s so far) He also won an ACC tourney in his first year.
So either you need to wait a little bit or people are very wrong about Monte.

It's early in his time at Clemson but things are looking up. The approach at the plate has been very good to see. The improvement of the pitchers has been awesome. He definitely has the players believing in his plan.

To think we wanted they’re coach first but then realized we wouldn’t land him once FSU opened up. Granted that’s was was rumored. I’m glad we got EB.
