Another bright spot was Jeadyn Lukus. IMO he should be

starting ahead of Jones. Just my $0.02 worth, but Jones plays too soft. Lukus has that "dog" in him and plays way more physical at the corner position.

Jones stinks, hate say that but it's true. There's a reason he and other seniors are still on the team. It's because the NFL wouldn't draft them and without Clemson, they have to join the real world

This is a take that a 40% pulser like you would take. Jones doesn't "stink".
But we have a guy who is behind Jones on the depth chart who is clearly outplaying Jones. I know Dabo likes to reward seniority and all that. OK. But, what I saw on the field indicates the better guy isn't starting. IMO, competition is what makes players perform. If we don't reward performance with more reps, then there's a problem.

TJ Parker always hangouts out with XT
Tyler Davis and Ruke and the injured upperclassmen Dline men ... they don't hang out with XT , TJ, and the other to be superstars on D . the OG type Tigers are giving the super seniors a cold shoulder
just as Trevor and ETN and company never interacted with DJU and Bryan Breese

i think this sub plot drama is about to take off in

the Florida State game
the underclass men DBs all hangout with XT too while the upperclassmen did not hangout as much with the Cool kids on the bench
i saw some offensive drama too . Adam Randall was with a tight group on Tiger Walk and every time they left the locker room . it'll also be interesting to see what happens there

THAT is something that this defense needs a LOT more of. I miss the physical aspect of defense Venables was always preaching to his players about.

I've always though Lukas was a potential star. Certainly has the athletic ability. Apparently the coaches see something I don't, and defer to them, but can't help but wonder what it is.

This gets to the heart of the "accountability" issue Boulware has been talking about. "Nuff said.

They only threw to the Jones receiver twice which I can remember.

I'm referring to Jones against Dook as well---I'm talking about his performance through two games. His performance was less than optimal against the Dookies and he was picked on continually.

OK. But did Lukus play many snaps against Duke?

I honestly don't remember but I would think they would have been less since Mukuba was playing.
I'm not knocking Lukus and you could well be right. I just think it may be early to say he is better than Jones because off a limited sample size.

Lukus is far better in press or man coverage. It's not even close.

I think the short answer independent of talent level upside is that Jones is more experienced and we started the season on the road against a good QB Reed thought best to work in Lukus situationally The CS game seemed to be more straight up swap off in playing time Give the staff some time to grow up a player Fwiw Lukus got beat deep once and was lucky the ball was badly thrown The coaches grade all plays. Fwiw2 I think Lukus will be starting by the 5th or 6th game
