Another strong performance from Trevor Lawrence and a stout defensive effort from fellow Peach State product Darnell Jefferies highlighted the week for Clemson football’s commits.

Lawrence led Cartersville (Ga.) to its 34th win in a row by downing Westlake (Ga.) 38-5. Lawrence completed 17-of-24 passes for 281 yards with two touchdowns.

The 6-foot-6 five-star prospect connected on all seven second-half throws with one score before his exit in the blowout win.

Lawrence improved his completion rate to 69.7 percent for 1,208 yards with 12 touchdown passes to one interception.

Down at Newton (Ga.), three-star defensive tackle Darnell Jefferies posted a tackle for loss among a couple stops, with a fumble recovery, in a 47-28 win over Peachtree Ridge (Ga.).

Newton moved to 3-0, Jefferies improving his total to eight tackles for loss on the season.

Justin Mascoll – 4-star South Gwinnett (GA) DE

Mascoll posted five tackles in a tough night overall for South Gwinnett, which dropped to 1-3 with a 30-23 loss to South Forsyth.

Quick hits: Four-star Greater Atlanta Christian cornerback prospect Kyler McMichael was largely bottled-up as a running back in a matchup with Colorado 5A state champion Valor Christian in a 28-22 loss…Three-star Lewisville (SC) defensive tackle Josh Belk’s unit contained Whitmire (SC) in a 62-6 win…4-star LB Jake Venables’ Daniel Lions dropped to 1-3 after a 42-23 loss at Greer (SC).
