WATCH: Watson partners with Habitat build for Houston hurricane victims

by - Staff Writer -

Deshaun Watson has become known as much for his impact off the field as on it in his short time Houston so far.

Last month, Watson donated his first game paycheck to a group of cafeteria workers at Houston's NRG Stadium affected by Hurricane Harvey.

Thursday, Watson visited a Habitat for Humanity project in northeast Houston restoring houses after the hurricane damage. Watson is partnering with the organization and a furniture company to refurnish 176 homes.

"The hurricane kind of made everyone have to start over," Watson said during the visit, "but I think they're going to be able to regroup and make it stronger and make it a better home than it was even supposed to be before."

Watson grew up in a Habitat home in Gainesville due with the help of another now-former NFL pro in Warrick Dunn.

"This is awesome because I know it impacted my life when I was younger," Watson said Thursday via TexansTV. "Being able to come back and be able to bless others like it did me was special and I wanted to be a part of it."
