Two Tigers named first-team midseason All-Americans

by -

A Clemson Tiger on offense and defense each were named first-team Associated Press midseason All-Americans.

Senior offensive guard John Simpson picked up the honor on the offensive side. He earned back-to-back conference offensive lineman of the week awards in games versus Texas A&M and Syracuse.

The defensive side is represented by redshirt junior Isaiah Simmons, who has earned a number of weekly honors this season. That started with nine tackles in the opener versus Georgia Tech for a share of the team defensive honors, followed by the Lott IMPACT and Walter Camp national and ACC weekly awards versus Syracuse (11 tackles/3.5 TFL/2 sacks) and team defensive honors in the win over Florida State last week (6 tackles, two for loss, forced fumble and recovery).

Simmons leads Clemson in tackles (46), tackles for loss (8), QB pressures (6) and sacks (4).
