CBS Sports released its final 130-team ranking
of the 2017-18 college football season Thursday, which showcased just how tough a road Clemson faced to another Playoff run.
Central Florida’s undefeated season received a little more recognition in this particular ranking. UCF was voted No. 4, two spots ahead of its place in the AP and Coaches polls, which moved Clemson to No. 5 and Ohio State to No. 6. The Golden Knights capped a 13-0 campaign with a 34-27 win over Auburn in the Peach Bowl. UCF finished sixth in ESPN’s strength of record metric and 10th in game control versus the 77th-best schedule. Clemson made its third-straight Playoff appearance versus the toughest schedule of any top-10 team (3) and compiled the third-ranked strength of record. Ohio State faced the No. 32 strength of schedule with a No. 7 strength of record. Dabo Swinney's Tigers finished with six wins over CBS top-30 teams and eight over top-40 teams.
