Tigers come up short in Blacksburg

by - Assoc. Editor -

Clemson (14-9) lost to Virginia Tech, 60-57, in front of a sold-out Cassell Coliseum in Blacksburg, Virginia. It was the first sellout ever for a Hokies' basketball game in February, and it also snapped a five-game losing streak for the home team.

Landry Nnoko had a solid game with 17 points, 12 rebounds and eight blocks.

Shooting guard Jordan Roper had 16 points and eight rebounds while Donte Grantham had 11 points and five rebounds.

Clemson had a chance to tie the game with a three-point attempt, but Jordan Roper was trapped, and the Tigers were unable to get a shot attempt off as time expired.

Virginia Tech big-man Zach LeDay had 19 points, 12 rebounds and four blocks to help lead his team to victory.

The Tigers are now 2-4 vs. ACC teams on the road. One factor that led to the close loss was that Clemson shot 62.5% from the foul line (10-16) while the Hokies shot 87.5% (14-16).

Clemson plays Notre Dame on Monday, Feb. 8 at 9 PM at Bon Secours Wellness Arena.
