Former Clemson All-American Seth Beer was named the Houston Astros' Minor League Player of the Month on Monday.

Playing mostly with Single-A Quad Cities, Beer hit .337 with three home runs and 12 RBIs, drawing 14 walks and scoring 14 runs, in July.

Beer is now on his second promotion within the Astros system and playing for advanced-A Buies Creek (N.C.). Over 172 at-bats this season, he's hit .314 with seven home runs, 11 doubles and 23 RBIs with a .916 OPS.

Beer was selected 28th overall in the MLB draft first round by the Astros in June.

The Suwanee, Georgia product led the ACC in home runs (22) and slugging percentage (.642) and ranked second on the Tigers in batting average (.301) and RBIs (54) last season. The Dick Howser Trophy winner (best player in nation) totaled 56 home runs and 177 RBIs over three seasons.
