Miami DE on 38-3 title loss to Clemson: "They didn’t do anything spectacular" |
The King of the ACC mountain is obviously Clemson. However, the Miami football program is hoping to win some ACC Championships in the near future.
A few Hurricane players spoke to the media about Clemson's 38-3 blowout win at a recent community event at Carver Elementary School. "No disrespect to Clemson, watching on the sidelines with my crutches, they didn’t do anything spectacular,” senior defensive end Demetrius Jackson said. "They just had been there before. They just came and played ball, and I think we didn’t. I think that it was our first time there. We got a little star struck and gazed like, ‘Whoa, we’re here.’ OK, we’re here, but that’s not the goal. The goal is to get there and win it." Jackson projects that his squad will see Clemson again if they make this year's ACC Championship game. "One day at a time, get one percent better each and every day, win out, take it one game at a time, put all the work in, and come December I’m very confident we’ll be seeing Clemson again, so it’s up to us if we want the outcome to be different, which I’m sure it is,” Jackson said. “We’ve just got to go and put the work in." His teammate Sheldrick Redwine knows that beating Clemson is the next step for the program's ascension in the conference. "For us, we’ve got to get over Clemson to get where we’re trying to get," he said. Defensively, Clemson held Miami to just 214 total yards and forced three turnovers in the dominant 38-3 performance. On offense, Kelly Bryant completed his first 15 passes with 252 passing yards leading Clemson to their third straight ACC Championship. In the last two Clemson-Miami matchups, the Tigers have outscored the Hurricanes 96-3.
