Kelly Bryant ranked No. 1 Heisman candidate for 2018 |
Kelly Bryant received the MVP award for his performance in the 2017 ACC Championship in Clemson's 38-3 rout of Miami.
Bryant set an ACC championship record completing his first 15 passes and finished the game going 23-for-29 for 252 passing yards with a touchdown pass. He also rushed nine times for seven yards including a rushing score. Is more prestigious hardware in store for Bryant (aka Kelly B) in the future? NFL.com released its list of 2018 Heisman candidates and the Clemson signal-caller was ranked No. 1 on the list. "Bryant has done an outstanding job taking the reins of Clemson's offense from Deshaun Watson," NFL.com said. "He's played his best ball down the stretch, scoring 7 TDs (1 rushing) and throwing only 1 INT in the last three games. The team's only loss of the year showed the importance of Bryant to their success, as Clemson fell to Syracuse when Bryant wasn't 100 percent and exited the game after the first half due to injury. He's improving as a passer and has the ability to move the ball on the ground, making the Tigers one of the top picks to return to the playoff in 2018." In 2017, Bryant has passed for 2678 yards with 13 passing touchdowns and six interceptions. NFL.com's list of 2018 Heisman candidates included QB Kelly Bryant, RB D'Andre Swift, QB Justin Herbert, QB Jarrett Stidham, DT Ed Oliver, QB Jalen Hurts, QB Dwayne Haskins, QB Khalil Tate, RB Jonathan Taylor, and DE Nick Bosa.
