Jeff Scott fires back at Desmond Howard's "finesse" comments |
The Clemson football team blasted Wake Forest 63-3 behind a sensational running game on Saturday afternoon.
ESPN analyst Desmond Howard said the Clemson offense was a "finesse group" earlier in the day on ESPN GameDay. "I don't see them being a physical outfit offensively," Howard said. "They are more of a finesse group; they are not gonna be a smash mouth group. You can't change who you are in the middle of the season. You are who you are. You are what you are." Such a lazy and terrible take by Howard that he should donate his week's paycheck from ESPN to charity. It was that bad. Clemson co-offensive coordinator Jeff Scott heard about the lazy hot take by Howard. "Somebody needs to send that to Desmond Howard so he can get his facts straight," he said. "It's hard to be a finesse group when you are rushing for 300 yards a game. You would agree with that, wouldn't you?" Clemson co-offensive coordinator Tony Elliott had the following response. "That's what they get paid to do," he said. "They get paid to entertain and commentate. I know Desmond and he is a good guy. I don't have any ill will towards him. Obviously, we got to prove it. We got six more games and hopefully, we earn our way to a championship." The Tigers had 471 rushing yards on the day which is the most rushing yards under Dabo Swinney and the fourth-most in school history. The 11.8 rushing yards per carry were most in school history that broke the previous record of 11.2 yards per carry in 1903.
Even Clemson's Twitter account trolled Howard:
