Former Clemson kicker signs with Jets

by - Assoc. Editor -

The Catman returns to New York.

The New York Jets announced on Friday that they have signed former kicker Chandler Catanzaro.

Catanzaro kicked for the Jets back in 2017. Interestingly, Catanzaro holds their franchise record for the longest field at 57-yards. During his stint with the Jets, he converted on 83.3% of his kicks and was 100% of his extra-point attempts.

'Cat-Man' was most recently with the Panthers last season after being released by the Buccaneers after a week 10 loss (missed 2 FG) against Washington. He was 11-for-15 on field goal attempts with the Bucs.

During his short time with the Panthers, he made all of his field goals and extra point attempts. Combined for both teams, he was 16-for-20 on field goals last season.

The Clemson product spent the first four years of his career with the Cardinals before kicking for the Jets in 2017. He signed a three-year deal with Tampa Bay before the 2018 season.

He was a two-time semifinalist for the Groza Award and left Clemson first in school history in points, extra points made and field goals of 40-plus yards.
