Landry Nnoko has earned 2018 Defensive Player of the Year for the NBA's 'G League' minor league.
For Detroit Pistons-affiliate Grand Rapids, Nnoko ranked second in the G League in rebounds per game (11.5) and third in blocks per game (2.1), while averaging 14.7 points. Nnoko played with Detroit's summer league team in 2017 and signed a contract with the Pistons before being waived shortly before the season. He played in Italy the season before, averaging 6.4 points and 7.1 rebounds. Nnoko made the All-ACC defensive team as a senior at Clemson, leading the ACC with 2.3 blocked shots per game and adding 5.7 rebounds. Grand Rapids' season ended last week after making the playoffs with a 29-20 record. Nnoko played with former Tiger K.J. McDaniels in the final stretch of the season.
