Former Clemson tight end
Jordan Leggett was waived by the New York Jets on Monday. The Jets have several tight ends left on their roster including Trevon Wesco, Chris Herndon, Neal Sterling, and Eric Tomlinson.
Leggett played in 15 games last season recording 15 receptions for 114 yards and a touchdown. He missed his entire rookie season dealing with a knee injury. If an NFL team signs Leggett, they will pay his $645,000 salary which is part of his rookie contract that runs through next season. The former Clemson receiver was drafted by New York in the fifth round (#150 Overall) of the 2017 NFL Draft. He was a two-time Mackey Award finalist and finished his career with 112 receptions for 1,598 yards and 18 touchdowns in 2,372 snaps over 51 games (38 starts). Leggett also completed his Clemson’s career the leader in receptions, receiving yards and receiving touchdowns by a tight end. In 2016, Leggett was second-team All-American by AFCA and CBS Sports and produced 46 receptions for 736 yards and seven touchdowns in 954 snaps in 15 games (15 starts).
