DeAndre Hopkins has a big heart for the hometown kids.

The former Clemson standout receiver bought 71 helmets and chin straps for his hometown youth football teams.

The youngsters received the new equipment on Thursday evening and recorded a short thank you message for Hopkins.

Former Clemson defensive back and Central 10U Purple football coach Chris Chancellor said that Hopkins and other NFL players from the Central-Clemson area have been very generous over the years.

"On behalf of all the coaches for the Central Tigers football program Central 10U purple, Central 10U orange, and Central 12U, we all want to say thank you to Nuk for purchasing each kid a brand new helmet and chin strap," Chancellor said. "As a former Clemson player and current recreation football head coach, it’s wonderful to see former players giving back to the community. Shaq Lawson purchased a new scoreboard last year, and Deshawn Williams, Jarvis Jenkins, Nuk hosting youth camps each year and that shows the love they have for the Clemson/Central community. We are forever grateful."
