Dabo Swinney ranked No. 3 for 2018 coaching jobs

College Football News ranked its top coaching performances of the 2018 season this week and Dabo Swinney ranked third overall.

The ranking, which measured the best coaching jobs relative to their roster and expectations, placed 10-3 Kentucky and Mark Stoops at the top, followed by 11-2 Army and Jeff Monken then Swinney, Northwestern's Pat Fitzgerald and Notre Dame's Brian Kelly.

"Swinney had his squad playing at a whole other level of brilliance to stop what might have been Nick Saban’s best team," CFN's Pete Fiutak wrote. "The 15-0 season was nice, but come on – the ACC was awful. Even so, after surviving Syracuse, Swinney’s squad never took a moment off with ten straight ho-hum blowout wins. And why?

"The defense was amazing, the young offensive stars took off, and the early season call of Trevor Lawrence over Kelly Bryant at quarterback...couldn’t have worked out better. Okay, so Clemson was the CFN preseason No. 1 team, and the talent was there for Swinney. But the talent was there for Alabama, too."

Swinney picked up the Bear Bryant Coach of the Year award shortly after capturing his second national title in three seasons. He was also named the Woody Hayes and ACC Coach of the Year.

Syracuse's Dino Babers also represented the ACC in the top-10 (10). ACC coaches and former ACC coaches lined the bottom of the list too: Florida State's Willie Taggart (101), Virginia Tech's Justin Fuente (124), former UNC coach Larry Fedora (128) and former Louisville coach Bobby Petrino (130).
