Clemson ranked in Yahoo's early 2018 Top 25

by - Assoc. Editor -

Clemson's successful season (12-2) ended on a sour note losing to Alabama 24-6 in the 2018 Allstate Sugar Bowl but the team achieved its third straight invite in the prestigious College Football Playoff and also won its third straight ACC Championship. Not bad for a rebuilding year for Dabo Swinney and Co.

National media is sold on Clemson's ability to remain one of the elite teams in 2018 as the Tigers were ranked No. 3 in Yahoo! Sports Top 25 rankings for 2018 behind only Alabama and Georgia.

"Kelly Bryant should only get better in his second season as a starter for the Tigers, who have recruited as well as anyone in the country over the past few seasons," Yahoo! Sports said. "WR Ray-Ray McCloud made the surprising decision to go pro over the weekend but Hunter Renfrow is back for what feels like his 15th season with the Tigers. Running backs Tavien Feaster and Travis Etienne return too, along with defensive lineman Dexter Lawrence and linebacker Tre Lamar. This team should be the overwhelming favorite in the ACC."

The full Top 25 rankings included Alabama, Georgia, Clemson, Ohio State, Wisconsin, Washington, Penn State, Oklahoma, Auburn, Miami, Stanford, Michigan State, Oklahoma State, USC, Central Florida, Mississippi State, Michigan, LSU, West Virginia, Virginia Tech, Florida State, Notre Dame, NC State, Oregon, and Texas.
