Clemson in the mix for Kentucky transfer |
Clemson has made the cut for rising junior Kentucky transfer Sacha Killeya-Jones’ top schools.
The Tigers are in a group with some national powers, per multiple reports, in North Carolina and Texas, as well as Georgetown, Arizona State, Pittsburgh, NC State, Nevada, Notre Dame and Wake Forest. The 6-foot-10 forward Killeya-Jones was a five-star prospect out of high school in Chapel Hill, North Carolina. He was at one point committed to Virginia before picking Kentucky over them, California, Florida, UConn, Georgetown, Wake Forest and North Carolina. His mother told the Louisville Courier-Journal that he will take visits in early May after classes are over at Kentucky. He doubled his playing time year-to-year to 13.7 per game as a sophomore and averaged 3.3 points and 2.9 rebounds. Killeya-Jones scored eight points with six rebounds in 24 minutes in Kentucky's NCAA Tournament opener versus Davidson. "The past 2 years at Kentucky have been an amazing journey and I want to thank all of my coaches, teammates and fans who made it possible," he said on Twitter when announcing his transfer. "After much deliberation with my family, I have decided that it is in my best interest to ask for my release and explore other opportunities at this time."
