Clemson guard suffers torn ACL

by -

Junior Clemson guard Clyde Trapp suffered a torn ACL in the lead-up to Clemson's trip to Italy for the World University Games next week.

Trapp was among the more experienced players coming back this season for Clemson, after averaging 24 minutes a game and making seven starts last season.

The Eastover, South Carolina native averaged six points, 3.4 rebounds and 1.6 assists last season.

“This is tough and unfortunate for Clyde and our team. Clyde is a very hard worker and was putting together a strong summer. I know he will continue that momentum when he returns to action,” Clemson coach Brad Brownell said in a statement on Friday.

Clemson begins play at the World University Games representing the U.S. on July 4. Trapp will not make the trip now and there is no timetable for his recovery process at this point.

Trapp is a second expected key contributor to suffer a major knee injury, joining transfer forward Jonathan Baehre's torn ACL in May.
