Clemson announces hire of 10th assistant football coach

Clemson announced the addition of its 10th coach Friday afternoon with the promotion of defensive analyst Lemanski Hall to assistant coach. The NCAA passed a measure last winter to allow teams to have 10 assistant coaches.

Hall - who played with Dabo Swinney at Alabama - was hired as a defensive analyst before the 2015 season. He’s expected to step in and coach the defensive line along with first-year defensive line coach Todd Bates.

"We prepared for this transition all year and we're excited to have five coaches on each side of the ball now," Clemson coach Dabo Swinney said in a statement." Lemanski will make a great addition to our full-time staff."

Hall previously was a coach at The Ensworth School in Nashville after a nine-year career in the NFL with the Chicago Bears (1998), Dallas Cowboys (1999), Houston Oilers (1994-1997) and Minnesota Vikings (2000-2002). Hall had 126 tackles, 4.0 sacks, and three forced fumbles during his NFL career. He was a seventh-round draft pick by the Oilers in the 1994 NFL Draft.

Hall will earn $300,000 in total compensation per year. His contract ends January 31, 2020.
