by - Assoc. Editor -

The NFL announced their 32 nominees for the 2017 Walter Payton Man of the Year Award and former Clemson punter Bradley Pinion was on the prestigious list.

The NFL award recognizes an NFL player for outstanding community service activities off the field as well as excellence on the field.

"Bradley Pinion has made an impact on causes ranging from special needs, literacy, animal adoption, veterans, to cancer awareness and character building," NFL.com said. "In his first three seasons, Bradley has participated in 30 events benefiting over 40 different organizations. He showed the same heart at this year's 49ers Crucial Catch Fashion Show, when he had the honor of walking a young girl with Acute Myeloid Leukemia down the runway."

"NFL players are outstanding, generous men of character who give back to their communities," said NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell via a press release. "Walter Payton represented the very best on and off the field and this year's Man of the Year nominees exemplify his legacy of philanthropy and leadership. We are proud to support players as they use their platforms to drive positive change."
