ACC Baseball Championship schedule released
Pairings and game times have been set for the 2018 Atlantic Coast Conference Baseball Championship, which gets underway Tuesday at Durham Bulls Athletic Park.
The Tigers (43-13, 22-8 ACC), who shared the ACC's best record with North Carolina and won the Atlantic Division title, earned the No. 2 seed in the ACC Tournament. Clemson faces No. 11 seed Notre Dame on Wednesday at 3 p.m. and No. 7 seed Miami (Fla.) on Thursday at 7 p.m. Both games are televised by RSN and available on ACC Network Extra (subject to blackout). The Tigers do not play on Tuesday or Friday.
Clemson is the designated visiting team against Notre Dame on Wednesday and the designated home team against Miami on Thursday. The designated home team occupies the third-base dugout for the entire tournament.
The tournament's format, in its second year, features four three-team pools, therefore each team is guaranteed only two games, as opposed to three guaranteed games with the previous format that was in effect from 2007-16.
The winner of Clemson's three-team pool advances to a semifinal game on Saturday at 5 p.m., against either NC State, Florida State or Virginia on RSN and ACC Network Extra (subject to blackout). The winner of that semifinal game advances to the ACC Championship Game on Sunday at noon on ESPN2. Clemson must defeat the winner of Tuesday's Notre Dame vs. Miami game to advance to the semifinal round.
North Carolina (37-17, 22-8 ACC) earned the No. 1 overall seed and will head up Pool A. The Tar Heels will be joined by eighth-seeded Georgia Tech (31-25, 14-16) and 12th-seeded Pitt (27-25, 11-19).
No. 3 NC State (40-14, 19-11) is joined in Pool C by No. 6 Florida State (39-17, 16-13) and No. 10 Virginia (28-24, 12-18), while Pool D features No. 4 Duke (39-14, 18-11), No. 5 Louisville (40-16, 18-12), and No. 9 Wake Forest (25-30, 13-17).
Tickets are available by calling 919.956.Bull (2855), ext.3, or online at http://theacc.co/base18tickets.
The ACC Baseball Championship FanFest will be held Saturday, May 26, from noon to 6 p.m. during the semifinals of the championship. The free event, located on Blackwell Street outside of the Durham Bulls Athletic Park and Historic American Tobacco Campus, includes live music, interactive games, student-athlete autographs, and giveaways.
