We can blame the Clemson GOALPOST for the 2015 Natty loss

Jan 20, 2019, 11:41 AM

With Mike Williams playing, game over. Luckily the goalpost issue was addressed in 2016.

Understand what you’re saying but as discussed in a thread yesterday, it’s game over if BJ and Fields aren’t out of position several times and let oj? Get behind the D. We thwart the onside kick, if blocking in the back and holding was called on their kickoff return... yada yada.

just as many plays could have turned 2016 into a loss as

well. It's the nature of the football fan to never look at the close wins and only look at the close losses.

You are looking at it wrong.

Close wins are simply a couple plays from being blowouts.

2016.don't forget.on the last ala. td their te(I believe) literally tackled one of our players downfield from behind.even herby mentioned it,but it wasn't called.2018.there easily could have been a targeting call on ala. on TL in the 2nd Q and on and on and on.the only thing that matters is the final score.missed calls etc. are never in the record books, and speculation can go on forever.

it was the TE that made the tackle in 2016. Although you could clearly see it in the replay, the announcers glossed over it.

Mike's broken neck goes back even further than that.

We can blame the CU police department for trying to stop a bunch of crazed students one night from tearing down the old goal posts after beating the coots, which turned into a safety issue in the aftermath and resulted in the automatic goal posts we have today, which have a flawed design with a large rectangular cross section like a wall, in which Mike Williams went head first into and broke his neck.

The difference being all those injuries and trick plays occurred on the field. The neck injury from the goalpost was a freak accident that will never happen again. The goalpost was changed back to round padding in 2016.

Goalposts are made of metal. There are steel plants in Birmingham, Alabama. Coincidence or conspiracy?..........you decide.

Williams might have gone pro after 2015...

Jan 20, 2019, 2:04 PM

Then we would not have had him for 2016. Works both ways.

If we had Potter on the 2015 team, think we win as well. I swear Bama got the ball on the friggin’ 40 every time because we couldn’t kick it deep. Haunted us for several years.

Great point, all though I'm not sure Mike Williams would have left as a red shirt sophomore.
