Read about fake tickets but another possible scam

Oct 21, 2018, 2:05 PM

Leaving the game yesterday, we saw 3 different groups holding signs saying they had lost their job and had 2 kids to support and asking for money. The VERY SAME SIGN !!! All lettering and wording the same - and we walked only one direction away from the stadium - could have been other groups in other directions. Unless these folks practice polygamy they couldn't be legit.Did anyone else see more signs moving away from the main campus?

Years ago I saw a guy in SF in the morning with a lost job sign. When I came back at the end of the day he had another sign that said- "why lie? I need a beer". Almost bought him one just for his honesty

Professionals in the homeless/assistance field say to never give these people money. I'll buy them a meal, or provide assistance, but never give them money. All of them know where to go to get a free meal or shelter, so they are not starving. Folks like the Salvation Army have rules at their facilities and a lot of the homeless and others do not like to abide by rules.

We saw dozens of people on the street with the same sign and the same exact wording on the sign. It really did seem that someone was handing them out a la Oliver Twist

"When I was young, I was sure of many things; now there are only two things of which I am sure: one is, that I am a miserable sinner; and the other, that Christ is an all-sufficient Saviour. He is well-taught who learns these two lessons." -John Newton

I saw who appeared to be a mother and daughter, and both were holding Starbucks cups.
