Pickens is no dummy

He knows potential when he sees it. And the potential he sees is named Thomas, Henry, Mascoll, and Foster and he wants none of that 3 deep depth chart.

my guess is that most 5-stars want to play around other 5-stars, simply because they assume that will hone them from the NFL. I'm actually kind of surprised the kid went to South Carolina. He's going to train against relatively weaker players. He's going to have to play extensive minutes against other teams--even teams where he should be on the sidelines by half-time, like Vanderbilt and Kentucky. Not only does that mean he'll play cumulatively more game time that should be trash time for his team, wearing him down, but it also increases the chances of him being involved in some freak play where he has a knee blown out or takes some other chronic injury, like a shoulder separation.
