So is this the same Bama that regularly takes 20+ commits and grayshirts a lot of guys? Not to mention he has to be the highest DE left uncommitted on their board. I just think they know that he's probably coming to Clemson so they don't want to waste their time.

I agree. If they have stopped recruiting then it is because they think they are out of the running. He is ranked higher than any silent commits that they have and they would not back off because of any of them.
