I'm surprised the fact that the ball hit BC player first

Nov 14, 2018, 8:09 PM

before Amari wasn't reviewable.

I thought I've seen them review that before on a punt.

It is.

One person on here besides me has brought this up. I'm surprised that more people on TNet didn't pick up on it. The fact that the replay officials didn't catch it is just further proof of the total incompetence of ACC officiating. The same could be said for the crack ESPN announcers.

The espn announcer s said after several reviews that it should have been called and the retired official who gives his opinion also said it should have been called

Hit our player twice then bounced right into

arms of returner.

Wrong punt. Not the BC return. The one ruled a muff by Amari.

silly me but..

Nov 14, 2018, 8:38 PM

someone clarify the rules. I thought if the kick team touched the ball it was down BUT cannot interfere with the returner (as the BC kick team clearly did, then it is interference with the returner and a penalty).

Apparently I am incorrect as our team touched the ball on our punt to BC that they picked up and returned for a touchdown. I thought the ball was down if the kick team touched it. If not, this could actually be a weapon if played correctly...

Please help an old addled Tiger out here.

Go Tigers!!!

Let's say Clemson punts. It hits our player first then

Nov 14, 2018, 8:43 PM

The opposing team grabs it and runs with it. That's legal.

But if the opposing returner fumbles. Then it's still the opposing team ball at the point where Clemson touched it.

So it's in fact a free return. Weird rule.

So for Amari... He was interfered with. But ALSO...the ball hit BC player just before it hit Amari. That's what ESPN, Dabo, everyone failed to mention because we were so caught up in the missed interference call.

Regardless of interference, it should've been Clemson ball where it hit BC player. That "illegal touching" is also reviewable. The interference is not reviewable.

If the kicking team touches the ball first, the returner can

Nov 14, 2018, 8:44 PM [ in reply to silly me but.. ]

Pick the ball up without any consequences and attempt to return it. If he fumbles the ball, it will not result in a turnover.
