For one thing, as many have written & talked about for years, it should have long ago been awarded after the REAL POST-season - when all football is truly over - NOT in early Dec.
2nd - I REALLY lost respect for "Heisman" when, clearly, Deshaun W should have won in '16. Doubt he cared much, because he has too much class to worry about awards.
From a draft standpoint in '17 - the main buzz was all about Trubisky, and Mitch went #2 overall. Watson went #12 - nothing to sneeze at - but the $$$ difference?? Mitch got $29-mil guaranteed & $19-mil signing bonus. Watson?? $13-mil guaranteed & $8-mil signing bonus. Mitch T's finally doing OK, but who came out of the gate on fire!?? Watson!!
Guess it just seems - the Heisman, the draft...it's often mistimed & over-hyped.
