and as such it lined us up against a resurgent, rested, upset, pay-back mode #4 Bama..and the rest is history.

Would have meeting OK or Ga instead been a softer ride?

Don’t know but do know our Oline, RB & TE blockers & QB didn't play like #1..plus coaches seemed to not have an effective plan B even the D played their hearts out (reason 4 of them returned).

BUT, they all know what happened and WiLL not allow a 24-6 (no TD) type game happen again.

That is one great trait DaBO has (had)..to correct problems 110%.

Go TiGERS..Jeep ROCKing!

The best team won it all, so in the end it really doesn't matter.

We belonged in the playoff but perhaps not as

the top team. But failures like Orange Bowl in 2011 and loss in Sugar Bowl always bring out the best in Dabo and his teams in following seasons because of the lessons learned. I see another NC in our future-perhaps this year or next. Go Tigers!!!!

I know this is going to sound like I'm a Clemson Fan but...

Jul 15, 2018, 12:26 PM

the truth despite our success in winning our division, winning our conference in nearly unprecedented style and being the top Playoff seed...last year was a rebuilding year after losing DW, MW and a few more key players.

No, that doesn't really sound like something a Clemson fan would say that sounds like something an unbiased, reasonable, knowledgeable football fan would say.

Although the results show your hindsight is 20/20...

the way Bama lost to AU and the way we trounced USuCk and Miami going into the playoff would confuse that argument previous to the seeding. Imo, the Committee did the ultimate best they could to seed the PO but I resented that they appeared to setup an all SEC final. I know that's not the topic you chose for focus.

For the sake of spreading the playoff money fairly between the conferences if two teams from any conference are selected those two teams should meet in the first round at the location which is closes to that conference.

Here's why. A first round game between conference mates which is played near the conference is a reward to that conference's fan. Less travel means less money to attend for those who have the most interest.

The Playoff money is split between the conferences which participate in the games according to consideration of each game equaling to one unit. The first round is 4 units because there are four teams and the final is two units... The total playoff money is split into six units. Last year the SEC collected 4/6ths or 2/3rds of the total payout.

Had the Bama and UGA played in the first round the SEC total would have been a max of 3 units of 6 or...I think everyone can do the math from here.

I am not a socialist pinko because if the ACC had two teams selected and deserving of two spots I'd be delighted to see that much consideration for us. I'm just greedy and buthurt when the other guys win. Obviously you can see this with your 20/20 hindsight.

Now I gotta go finish cutting a buffing this wood trim. Pics tomorrow morning, Lord willing.

I’m not sure I can make a great argument that Clemson should have been number 1.

Jul 15, 2018, 1:25 PM

But I don’t think there is an argument that holds water that anyone should have been above us. Alabama didn’t win their conference championship. So I’m sure you well collect that it was on the table not to include them. So then you have Georgia who was new to the playoffs. Clemson with “defending champs”. So then you’re left with Oklahoma. I doubt too many people would have argued that. So yes as others said hindsight makes it be that way but the issue is that no one deserved it more than us.

I respectfully disagree for these reasons: We beat AU and AU beat Bama and UGA in the regular season. And OU...well we curb-stomped their butts the previous times we played them. We won the division in the regular season and won the ACCCG. Doing those things make you #1.
