When I read the ESPN article the other day it quoted Robert Quinn (One of the Dolphins players who took a knee) saying something about there needs to be unity in this country. Maybe it was just me but I found it quite ironic him talking about unity but he himself isn’t practicing unity when his teammates around him are standing and he chooses to take a knee. Just sayin.

I don't get this mindset. I don't agree with the way they're protesting, but your point is they shouldn't be trying to fix one issue, because larger issues exist? Does it work this way for other things? Should we not donate money to IPTAY because there are people out there who need money more? Should my local church not help a family get needed repairs done to their home because so many people don't have homes at all?

If I have to REQUIRE someone to stand for our National Anthem, then I have no respect for them, because they obviously have no respect for our country. Fire all KNEELERS - and hire some respectful AMERICANS. I don't care if their abilities are not as great as some of the kneelers. Respect is earned, and the kneelers have earned NONE. I'd like to point out that "freedom of speech" does not include "freedom from consequences". The first amendment is to protect citizens from the GOVERNMENT trying to suppress their speech/religious choices.

This is too simple of a fix . Americans seem to have settled into the mentality of 3rd graders on a playground fighting over a piece of dirty candy .
It has no bearing on my life whether or not someone stands or kneels for the anthem , the same as it has no real effect to complain and gripe about it in the first place .
Play the anthem while the teams are in the locker room , too much distraction from a great game .

I don't get why anyone worried about whether they take a knee or not. There are only a few when it does happen and in some games there are none. I enjoy football and that's why I watch the game. It will be another great season. Looking forward to watching Deshaun and Nuk go off.

I agree with you. I don't personally like what they're doing, but I haven't lost a second of sleep over it, and it hasn't impacted my enjoyment of football a single bit either. You can only get offended by something if you choose to get offended. I have family in the military, and I don't see how it disrespects the military at all. I think anyone who takes a minute to think realizes the protests have nothing to do with the military either. I can understand disagreeing with how they're protesting, as I don't think it's the best way either. I just don't see how people are this angry over it. It's literally like a dozen players out of over 1,500 in the league.

I think they are wasting their time, but so what. They can protest and it means nothing to me. I just watch and enjoy the game. If they were white taking a knee against abortion, they people that are angry now would call them heroes. They just have a different cause. I just watch the game. As a matter of fact, when the anthem was on while I was at home in the past, I usually never paid attention. I am usually lounging around when it is on or at the grill or in the kitchen. Not like I stood with my hand over my heart either. I feel patriotic too.

These protests matter to the cops because the protestors are discussed by politicians and the media non-stop. Don’t blame the cops for that. The protests call cops racist murders. Why would you want to attend an entertainment event when entertainers start by saying “we think you are morally bankrupt and possibly evil so much so that we do not respect the country in which we all live for letting you exist...now sit there and watch me play a game for millions of dollars”?
I’d feel like a moron if I willfully attended that event.

I watch for the football, not the national anthem.
As far as it being disrespectful, the flag represents more than just the military, it also represents the justice system which in their eyes have failed people over and over in this country. They have a right to stand up for what's important to them. The constitution is all the defense they need and it's rather ironic that the president of a nation who's first constitutional amendment says we are free to express ourselves is calling for people doing exactly that to be fired.
I don't necessarily agree with their protest, but I do think it's pretty honorable that they put their career on the line for something they believe in. Kaepernick has pretty much ruined his.

Just stay in the locker room and let the crowd decide what they want to do/see and then bring the players out. What is wrong with that?
