Ellis coached at Clemson from 1984-1994, putting together a 177-128 (.580) record in his tenure. While at Clemson, Ellis led the Tigers to the 1990 Atlantic Coast Conference title, the only one in the school's history, with a 24-8 overall record, a 10-4 ACC mark and an appearance in the NCAA Tournament's Sweet 16.
Not to mention he is a friend of mine so screw you.

the ACC Tourney so we are not the ACC Champions for that year.
The conference champion is whoever wins the tourney.

ACC Regular Season Champ is usually the best team. Unless the Regular season and tourney champ are the same, of course.

I have made a point to forget Ellis for the most part, but that UConn CF will live in infamy.

Cliff arguably the best bb coach we’ve ever had, but he recruited many of the best players we’ve ever had. He was also approachable and genuinely a good guy. He represented the University with class, unlike most on TNet.
I don’t understand why anyone would bash him...

Im sorry but Cliff just basically rolled out a ball and let them play. He was definitely NOT an X and O coach. Any discipline had to be handed down by the school-not Cliff. I'm not saying he is not a nice guy. He just is not a very good coach IMO.

the fact that he had some very good seasons on occasion. He recruited some of the best players in our history, including Horace Grant, Dale Davis, Elden Campbell, and Chris Whitney.
Unfortunately, he also had issues with the NCAA at Clemson, and also at Auburn and Coastal Carolina. Who knows whether those infractions were his doing or someone on his staff, but it's still inexcusable in my book. Our Sweet 16 run in 1990 no longer counts as a result.

I never said he was a bad coach. I acknowledged his successful seasons and some of the great recruits he signed. I also pointed out the negatives associated with his tenure.
You clearly have a problem with objectivity.

to put it in perspective. Foster had Tree (who Tates Locke, cough, recruited) and Nance. He also recruited Horace and Harvey. Barnes had Buck and Jamison. OP had Trevor. Brownell KJ and JB
