I just saw in a TI article about likely offensive redshirts this year that Blake Vinson was injured, thus increasing the chances that Will Putnam will avoid a redshirt. It gave no further details. Anybody know what the deal on Vinson is?

Unless he was hurt and it has not been announced. Also, Blake is a Tackle and Putnam is a Guard.

The Tiger Illustrated article said Will had been cross trained at tackle and that the Vinson injury would likely increase his chances of avoiding a redshirt. I know he played Sat., so assumed he was injured in practice Monday or Tuesday. Thought maybe someone on TNet today might have heard something.

I don't place a whole lot of faith in any reported "cross-training" that Putnam has done. If he's done any, it's probably been minimal. For a true freshman to get comfortable with the playbook and line calls is no small feat so at only week 4 of the season I'd think that Caldwell would be for the most part keeping him at one position, which for now is RG...however he did line up on the 1 play last series at LG vs Syracuse. With all that said though, if Vinson is out.. we are getting pretty thin at tackle.
