Back-rides Flashback ---

Jul 22, 2018, 5:06 PM

Watching Mike Williams's highlight of carrying roosters on his back to score kind of reminded me what another Clemson Tiger offensive player used to do back in the day.

Who remembers Clemson tight-end Keith Jennings and his playing days with us? I remember him making catches.... and on most of them... then carrying 2 or more players of the defending opposition on his back for extra yards. LOL

My Dad was in the hospital. So, Mom and I packed up some

Jul 22, 2018, 8:55 PM

tailgate food and watched it in my Dad's hospital room. The nurses would come down to the room when they heard us cheering. Most of them were Clemson fans. When Emory made that run, however, they came running thinking something had happened to my Dad. :D

I was there in the end zone seats...

...with coots in my ear. It was a lot more roomy by the end of the game.

I was at that game also . It was also the last game I was able to go to with my Dad .

At the end of the game , my father broke off a small branch from one of those red tip bushes behind the end zone at W-B .

I think this was in retribution for Tanneyhill digging up turf from Death Valley in a previous year .

I believe I still have the branch of Red Tip in my Tiger memorabilia .

I believe Terry Cousin got the free ride

My Dad's friend speculated that, after the dragging, Cousin had to replace both shoelaces.

Keith Jennings worked for my dad for a little while after he retired from NFL. I hung around him a few times and he is one big man but a big ole gentle soul. Always enjoyed talking football with him but seemed like I bought the beers everytime! Ha!

I remember watching Willie Anderson run up the stadium steps

Jul 22, 2018, 9:05 PM

in the Valley with the wrestling coach on his back. Always thought that was pretty impressive.
