It's pronounced "L Heff A" and it means "The Boss".

Why did you give up plastic straws?

The hygiene of your drinkware at public establishment relies on an absence of lip contact. Commercial dishwashers do NOT eradicate lipgerms from glasses and cups. If you gave up plastic, did you at least switch to disposable paper straws?

Or did you let some bleeding-heart ecofriendly ignoramus convince you that your guaranteed compromising of your immune system is less important than the potential harm of a plastic straw to an already over-plasticized environment?

Plastic straws make up 1% of unrecycled plastic. Drinking straight from an inadequately washed glass--and you will never know when or how frequently that happens unless you run a commercial kitchen dishwasher--can affect your immune system with as many as 10% more foreign malicious microbes, if the previous user also eschewed a straw.

and please re-frame from posting wiki-facts about Xanax. I hardly care.

Re-frame...xanax...(sigh).

I wish the waitstaff at my most frequented restaurant would go back to giving out straws. They now give me an attitude when i refuse to touch my $2.49 beverage unless they give me a straw first. Go figure

My god! When we can send a rocket to Mars, we can't make straws out of something other than plastic? Plastic is a real problem environmentally, but how much do straws contribute to it? I really don't know.

No, you weren't joking! Have the integrity to own your posts.

You've got it all wrong! You need exposure to germs to build up antibodies so that when presented with a serious infection you have something to fight it with. Small exposures as would possibly be on a glass that had been run through a dishwasher are actually good for you!

those of us who drank out the waterhose as kids

May 26, 2019, 3:52 PM

and ate bugs and dirt, and swam in the stagnant swamp, and got bitten by wasps and other scaly critters we caught.....we don't have peanut and gluten allergies and all the other maladies that people have these days. There's a lot of truth to what you say.

There’s nothing like a fresh slice of mud pie! My parents are always telling me how I rolled around in mud more than anyone and how I believed in the 30 second rule when it came to dropped food. As of today, I have no food allergies and a strong immune system!

Go Tigers!!!

So they don't eradicate lip germs from cups but they do from forks and spoons?

Reportedly, frogs are dying too, but from what? Apparently from some kind of industrial pollution.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Even littering is a partisan issue these days. Sad!***

Turtles are an indicator species , like frogs and bees .
I wish INDY car racing were on the endangered species list ... because formulaic and agonizingly boring .

It’s boring as hell but not as bad a nascar.

So is sex, but we're not gonna ban that anytime soon.

Wait--were you saying that Indy car is 'boring, repetitive and formulaic' to spectators only, or participants, too?

Just trying to figure which version i just put on the table....

Man I feel sorry for you. In all my 90 years I have never encountered boring sex. Perhaps you have been traveling in the wrong circles.

Referring to the "as a spectator sport" kind. Grandma and i are not interesting enough for others to spend hours watching.

Participation? She's still beautiful to me.

Just saying to my Lowcountry friend TD that 'formulaic and repetitive' are not always boring.
