ok, so for reals + SRS: Sam's vs Costco.....GO!

Apr 3, 2014, 12:35 PM

married, so BJ's ain't an option.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Costco unless you are lucky enough to be in York County

Apr 3, 2014, 12:36 PM

where there is no Costco...then you do Sam's. Butt it really doesn't compare.

2024 purple level memberringofhonor-greenr.jpg flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Costco. $1.50 hotdog and drink combo, plus

Apr 3, 2014, 12:37 PM

Not every lowlife in the area is there when I go. I have their Amex card. Last year I got $80 back from it. $50 membership so net of only $30 but still not bad.

badge-donor-05yr.jpgringofhonor-aero.jpg flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

I have a Sam's Card because they gave me one.

Apr 3, 2014, 12:38 PM

My wife has her sister buy her stuff at Costco.

(her sister has huge ####)

no pigs

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

I will wholeheartedly take all of that into consideration.

Apr 3, 2014, 12:39 PM

Teh Clone has a Sam's Card? Check.
Teh Clone's SiL has teh huge teats? Check.

Costco 1, Sams 0

badge-donor-05yr.jpgringofhonor-aero.jpg flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

we're talking Costco & Sams

Apr 3, 2014, 12:41 PM

I was already assuming 450lbs, so this is a win.

Fair enough.***

Sam's

Apr 3, 2014, 12:48 PM

I loved their chicken patties as a kid (we're talking late 80s to early 90s), so I've got to be loyal.

Costco 2, Sam's 0

we've had Sam's memby's for the past 10 years or so, but it expired @ the end of March, so it's decision time again...I like what I hear about Kirkland 'brand' stuff....however, I'd have to be on woodruff rd for a longer distance to get to Costco.....

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

If brands matter to you, Sams does have more recognized

Apr 3, 2014, 12:52 PM

brands for more products. CostCo has lance crackers though, that is what I mostly buy at CostCo. I should really let my membership expire and find a better rewards credit card.

badge-donor-05yr.jpgringofhonor-aero.jpg flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

kinda, but I was referring to the brands behind the brand

Apr 3, 2014, 12:55 PM

I've heard/read that most kirkland stuff is major brands in disguise...their coffee is starbucks, and stuff like that....

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

The Kirkland burboun tastes exactly like

Apr 3, 2014, 1:54 PM

hot garbage and old cheese. Not sure if that is a brand name.

badge-donor-05yr.jpg flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

The Kirkland lickher

Apr 3, 2014, 2:06 PM

Vodka is grey goose and tequila is excellent. We don't drink brown booze.

I would never buy clothes at SAMs but have a few Kirkland dress shirts and a couple hilfigger sweaters from costco. Samples are always better and more plentiful at costco.

That said, we have a business membership at SAMs and they have better meatballs. I don't fit the profile to shop at our local SAMs as I don't fit their preferred Hispanic demographic.

I prefer our costco executive membership which costs about $15 net after our rebate.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

You may not care about this, but Costco tends to have better

Apr 3, 2014, 12:55 PM [ in reply to groce ]

lubricants than Sam's. Sam's lubricants taste like rubbing alcohol and really wear off after a few minutes. Costco's do not, so it is preferred for a good ######## sess.

Butt 4 SRS, we have friends who bought ALL their furniture at Costco and it LOOKS like it is holding up (and looks decent). Better than IKEA.

2024 purple level memberringofhonor-greenr.jpg flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

What's wrong with chicken patties?

Apr 3, 2014, 12:58 PM [ in reply to groce ]

Those things were great back in the day. Even microwaved.

*Packaging was nowhere near this cool in 1991.

2024 white level memberbadge-donor-10yr.jpg flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

That's completely disgusting...

Apr 3, 2014, 12:59 PM

If only you knew what went into making those. Turkey patties truly are the worst of all.

Dog #### is 100% all natural, too...

Pro tip:

Apr 3, 2014, 1:02 PM [ in reply to groce ]

Drive up 385 to Roper Mountain Road exit to Woodruff Rd. that way,

or,

Exit from I-85 at Laurens Road and drive on Verdae, making a right onto Woodruff Rd.

We quit going to Sam's not only because it isn't as good as Costco, but is harder to get to for us, coming from downtown.

Apr 3, 2014, 1:24 PM

I live 2 miles from a mini-woodruff rd, and Target, 3 grocery stores, 30 fooderies (mostly of the sammich or fast food variety) several gas stations etc...however, if I want Sams/Costco, Best Buy or REI, etc...it's woodruff rd

Costco, happier employees and better products.

Costco

Apr 3, 2014, 12:58 PM

very good meat and produce, imo.

I never went to Sams once they moved and getting to Costco is much easier, imo.

Does Sams have lickher?

2024 orange level memberbadge-donor-15yr.jpgringofhonor-fatherg-110.jpg flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Sam's do have lickher

Costco, definitely Costco. I'm sure I've seen Malaysians in Costco.

and have gotten along just fine. Plus there's not one within an hour of my house.

I just don't need 5lbs of peanut butter or the 36-pack of Starkist tuna.

Last time I went to Costco's was the day Payne Stewart died in the plane crash. I remember hearing that just before getting out of the car in the parking lot. Been longer than that since I have been to Sam's.

badge-donor-05yr.jpg flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

I run into the same problem. Not that going to CostCo is

Just on principle though. She doesn't need to shop there (household of 2), but she does anyway. It does seem nicer than Sam's though.

We're a household of two and shop at BJ's often.

Apr 3, 2014, 1:33 PM

It's better to buy our coffee and paper products in bulk. Plus, BJ's deli selection trumps even the Harris Teeters around here.

Apr 3, 2014, 1:34 PM

cuz mama does. She uses their pharmacy (good people. even sent a card over when dad died), but she doesn't need to buy canned green beans in bulk. or 1.5 gallons of milk or whatever else they have there that she may want to buy.

If you want the same shít all the time, Sam's; else Costco

Apr 3, 2014, 1:32 PM

in a landslide. Better options at Costco and it heavily varies per season on products they have.

If I were to rank, Costco > BJ's > Sam's Club

Apr 3, 2014, 1:40 PM

We're SAMs because the membership was free with wife's employer (no pigs). Might explore Costco though. I like our sams. The meat dept. rawks!

Re: ok, so for reals + SRS: Sam's vs Costco.....GO!

Apr 3, 2014, 4:19 PM

If you haven't figured it out by now, definitely go with Costco. We go about once or twice a month to stock up on stuff and we're only a family of two. We tend to get a lot of our fresh fruit and vegetables from there (good quality and prices are dirt cheap compared to Harris Teeter). I have the AmEx and I put most of my charges on there. Was able to get around $300 cash back last year.
