These have been ongoing for 2+ years now. I am no long surprised by them. Just saddened. A lot of my friends were affected today.

Such a morale killer when they are an ongoing thing.

something that allows me the flexibility that I get right now. and pay. at least in this area. And we'd prefer not to pack up the family and move away from family right now. not with grandparents in the their late 70s.

Last layoffs at my current employer were on a Wednesday

I had the pleasure of introducing one direct report to the "from the corporate office" HR lady.

The company had the balls to ask the laid off employees to "go ahead and take the rest of the day to process this, then, if you could come back in on Thursday and Friday to help transition your current work." Because those transition meetings aren't awkward.

Surprisingly, a majority of the employees came back in and did just that. Only one guy went Half Baked Scarface on his way out the door.

When we drink, we get drunk.
When we get drunk, we fall asleep.
When we fall asleep, we commit no sin.
When we commit no sin, we go to heaven.
So, let's all get drunk, and go to heaven!

We had a "cleansing" last May

They took 40ish employees to a conference room, said thanks but no thanks, handed most a severance package, and information to sign up for unemployment. Oh and the police were on hand, stationed at all the exits.

Rumors are swirling here.

We recently hired 5-6 new SVPs, so to pay for their $500K salaries, we'll have to lay off a ton of $15/hour folks, middle managers, and folks who have been here >10 years. Its wash/rinse/repeat here in March/April every year.
