Prayers needed for this young man`s family

Sep 8, 2012, 10:08 AM

Ben wanted so much to be a TIGER after HS. Great story of Ben Jordan BHP football player.

and a follow up story of his visit with The Tiger only 1 day

Sep 8, 2012, 10:11 AM

before he passed away.

I'm, Jordan Powell, a former Clemson Tiger Mascot, and I occasionally help the University with Tiger appearances. On Wednesday, I volunteered a couple of hours and went to the children's floor at Greenville Hospital with the Tiger suit.
It’s always a great feeling to help put a smile on the kid’s faces and to help brighten their day.

I specifically remember meeting Ben on Wednesday. He was surprised and excited to see the Clemson Tiger walk in the room. Ben was a very polite and thankful that I had come to see him, and that I brought along some gifts. One of the ladies with me asked Ben about getting back to playing football and he was visibly sad to tell us that he would not be allowed to play anymore. It took me 3-4 minutes of sign language/gestures (The Tiger can’t talk) to tell Ben he could come to Clemson and be the Tiger Mascot one day. That brought a huge smile to his face and got a good laugh out of him!!

Ben said he was feeling much better and was eager to be discharged today or Saturday. I was heartbroken last night when I received the terrible news of Ben's passing. Ben was a great young man and had a bright future ahead of him. He's in a better place now and for that I'm thankful. It's just hard to see such a young man go so early.

I can’t imagine what it would feel like to lose a child so everyone please keep the Jordan Family in your prayers. I'm sure they need them more now than ever.

Ben was a hugh Clemson fan so I thought this photograph would great to share with everyone.

Not me in the tiger suit but another gentleman.

I was only sharing what Jordan had written on Ben`s Memorial FACEBOOK page.
But I totally agree about the visits from The Tiger and have sent THANKS to everyone involved!

Almost 3 wks in hospital and was supposed to go home Fri. and be on the sidelines with his BHP football team. They thought the clots had dissolved and gone but one broke loose Thur afternoon and took Ben from us.
