help! my laptop has screen aides.

been happening about a week, sometimes when I lift the screen and it wakes up from sleep mode, it's sort of flashing random colors. But you can see the regular screen behind all that, and even log in, and see the screen change behind the colors, but the color flashing keeps on. After an indeterminate length of time awake, it just gets normal. It does this on start up from off occasionally too. It may not do this every day, only when Mrs No really needs a laptop instead of her phone or tablet. She's ready to take it to shop. I'm not.

Tried hard shutdown, running HP diagnostics/updates, spitting on it, etc. How to fix?

It's HP Spectre X360 convertible. Other than this deal with the colors, it works fine.

can't help you as i've only use hp computers twice, both

Sounds like a hardware problem

Either the wires running through the hinge or the screen itself.

Does it do the same thing when you hook it up to a monitor?

Hitting it with a hammer. Works every time to remove those pesky colors from the screen.

I'm thinking the Intel video driver that loaded a couple weeks ago might be the culprit, but haven't dug any deeper yet.

I had an issue with a laptop some years ago screwing up the screen colors & what not. It was the video card (I think) that had gone bad. It wasn’t dead but it decided to make the screen blue at random times.
