Clemson strategy vs Alabama, thoughts?

Last year number of plays were huge. Obviously wore D down and paid off. This year I think we have the talent to go straight up head to head. I haven’t looked at number of plays per game as compared to last year. But do you think we try to reach set number plays or just go out every down to be better than them? Thoughts?

Being they are thin at linebacker running alot of plays might be a good strategy. However if we don't turn the ball over and KB can hit some downfield passes we have a good chance to win. We need to stretch the Bama defense and spread them out.

We will not try to get 90 plays IMO. I think we can spread them out early and pound them up the middle in the second half. They will not be able to handle our 4 backs with their lack of depth at LB. I think we try to control the clock.

this year with a much more run-heavy offense. That's not typically the formula to beat Bama's defense.

This is my concern. I don’t think we can out Alabama Alabama. Teams that try to beat them with a run first offense and a great defense haven’t won many (if any) against them.

1. First, open a keg of whuppasz and spread it liberally across Bama's entire team
2. Second, rub it in, rub it in
3. Third, LOL out loud
4. Fourth, drink their tears to intoxication
5. Fifth, stand on top of the hill and beat our chest proclaiming our dominance of the SEC -----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
J/k, but not kidding. We should run the ball until Bama pukes then run it some more.

Part of me thinks we will go four wide, spreading out the D then mix hitting guys in space and pounding the middle.
The other part of me thinks we do what we have done all year...just play our game of pounding the ball and roll out KB2 with a pass from time to time.
I expect Bama to load the box and play tight coverage on the outside which means there will be a lot of downfield opportunities. This will open up some long runs IF we can get our backs to the second level.
I have a lot of confidence in our staff and expect a BC type outcome like the above poster stated

I know Alabama is depleted from what they were a year ago, but I imagine they are still pretty dern good at controlling the line of scrimmage. Especially early on in the game.
I remember last year saying outloud mid-game "We aren't going to win if we don't start passing the ball" and that last drive had some completely insane throws and catches in but for awhile I was worried about the lack of success the run game was having. We ran straight into the maw of that defense and it eventually did start wearing them down and working.
I'm sure our OC's will have a great game plan. It just might be late 3rd/early 4th quarter before it starts completely making sense. But still, Bama is no different than any other team. You adjust based on what they give you.

Thats right! Auburn only rushed more than 4 on 2 plays and totally dismantled Alabama's o-line. Our defense is too deep! Lets go beat the bamers

short passes to extend the running game -- down the field pass when 1 on 1 coverage allows -- ROP /run,opt,pass, often ( making the right reads** ) -- you just don't beat Bama' running, even if they have their third string playing !!!_________Saban is old school & very diciplined on stopping the run -- spread offense and lots of plays is the way to beat Bama' !!! GO TIGERS !!!!!~

The shuffle pass? And then other teams tried to use that the rest of the year? How did that work out for them. That may work and I know they’ll prepare alternatives but I guarantee saban is working on that. I’m not really concerned about our d at all. I’m more curious what our offensive plan will be. We are good enough to be 50/50 or to be run heavy or to be pass heavy. They’ve built a monster of an offense. I just wonder if we’ll try to go for number of plays or just settle in on a rhythm. Like others I’d like to see a few long passes and I’d love to get up by 14 and then keep wearing them out on the run. Sounds like if we get past the line we can wear out their linebacker corps pretty easily. I love Etienne or Feaster I’m these situations if you get them a hole into the center of the defense they may break some long runs. Man I’d like to be on the giving end rather than receiving end of that. Seems like it’s been awhile since we’ve been threats for long runs.
