I'm just watching and hoping they chill out.
I assume they will back off at some point, but this has not happened before. And it keeps escalating beyond what I think will be the end of it.

They had nukes in 99 and it de-escalated. Plus India has a no first use policy.

Yeah I know, but this goes beyond that. By a decent margin.

Now we got downed planes.
Lots of other scary signals coming out that I don't remember from 2002 or 99.
Again, obviously I know they eventually have to back down, but the further this goes, the more likely a terrible mistake could happen. A LOT is on the line right now.

So please don't waste your intelligence responding to the Doc. He is never interested in any kind of intelligent discussion.

responses on here as much as possible. When people make it personal, I go ### for tat, but if someone who is usually mean or angry with me has a question or a point, I will continue to take it at face value and focus on the words being said, not the person saying it.
I would prefer for it never to become personal, but I can hang with people if they want to go there.

I have been watching the situation. I don't think they would ever use nukes. It is powder keg though.

Thank God they have nukes. They would have killed so much more of each other by now. Mutual nukes make sides behave so much better.

I agree. Sometimes I think every country should have nukes.

You got that right, they've been fighting over Kashmir since 1948 when the british walked out of India and Pakistan was born.
I don't understand all I know about that situation but it would seem wise if the U.N. security council and all of it's members sat down with Pak. and India and figured out a way to split Kashmir.
Very, very dangerous situation there.

deserve a lot of credit for cooling this situation down for now.

Also, looks like India was gearing up for an escalation last night, but because of Pakistan's careful behavior and the aforementioned 3rd parties stepping in, things are staying put.
I am hearing from a lot of people familiar with Indian foreign policy that the election is actually a contributing cause for escalated tensions. War fever is high in India these days and politicians who score points against Pakistan are dramatically increasing their odds of political success. As a result, lots of analysts on both side of the border are expecting the high alert risk to persist until the Indian elections are finalized.
That's 3 months away... so that's scary.
