Republicans don't want him to testify publicly that he "doesn't recall Kavanaugh acting that way" because he is a drunk and, as most people know, drunks have a tendency to get so drunk they don't remember stuff.

Like, if he's not a credible witness for the accuser or the accused, why would you subpoena him? It's not like any of the other witnesses back up Ford's story, either, and they weren't subpoenaed.
