Why are so many national analysts picking an upset?

My only concern is the lack of size on our defensive front.

If you pick the upset correctly, you look like a genius.
If you pick it incorrectly, oh well, they were supposed to win anyway and you went out on a limb.
They also need an opposing view to the majority opinion. Everybody knows a team like Tennessee will beat the Georgia States of the world so there is no point in picking the upset. But a highly anticipated, highly ranked matchup, between two teams that went the distance last year, is just begging for someone to pick the upset. If they didn’t we wouldn’t run to the internets to ask why these idjits are picking the upset.

Against Clemson this week and next week. Next week will be worse, half of ESPN work force graduated from Syracuse.

TAMU lost their 6 top defenders as well. They return 1 DT and 1 LB and most of the (not so great) secondary from the D. The OL lost their best player, but replace him with a 5* Freshman. TE will be a significant downgrade. They do have an excellent recruiting class, and assuming they play up to their ranking that should help them. RB Spiller, a Freshman, is big and worrisome. Hopefully he hasn’t learned pass protection yet.
All in all, I would say the losses are near equal.

Carmen prob didn’t play, Kendrick hardly played and not at CB. Thomas used situationally. We are much faster at LB. We upgraded in a lot of areas since we played them early in the season last year.

Rick Neuheisel / Inside college football Sam Kahn / espn / whoever that is
I haven’t searched but that’s all I’ve seen.
Even Heather Dinich picks Tigers to win.

That has to be a false statement with Heather Dinich, she is the one started the Clemson being upset years ago, no way she would pick Clemson to win. I bet she called for an upset against Georgia Tech !!!

It's what they do. So TL had two picks in the opener and the D line is still an unknown. I have already stated in several threads, I believe this is a "Leave No Doubt" game for the Tigers!
We're built for this!

One of those picks from TL was a Hail Mary at the end of the half. I'm surprised they even consider that play.

It’s wasn’t a Hail Mary. Trevor said himself that he was trying to throw it out of bounds but it came out wrong. It was an errant toss.

To keep interest in the game. aTm is good, but overmatched. Big game, the ones Clemson excels in. I think it’s a 3 TD game. If Lawrence and Ross get hot and the defense is clicking, maybe more. I do wish it was an 8pm kickoff though.
TL;DR Tigers kick that Texas buttocks and the media convinces people before kickoff it’s going to be close. Hey, those 30 second 500k commercials ain’t cheap

Well for one in the spring game and week 1 vs GT , TL has looked lost. The kind of player we think he is means this mess is out of his system and he lights TAM up . If he is still struggling we might have a problem. At home if we are truly the best team in the nation, Sat will prove that question.

The only reason is Trevor’s stat line against Ga Tech. Had he thrown for 300 and 3 TDS nobody would give A&M a chance.

Clicks and views.
Sports media doesn't give two poops about accuracy or well thought out talking points, just what will get them more clicks and views to sell.

Two reasons. First, it’s something to talk about that gains interest from other fans. Secondly, it’s THE only game of our season they can pick an upset and not look like complete lunatics. Now or never for the upset

Because if they are correct picking the upset and TA&M wins, "it just means more."
One thing that gets mentioned very little by the analysts re: last year's close game is how little any of us knew about TA&M. You can get away with knowing little if they are rebuilding a program like GT. But TA&M has got a lot of talent plus Jimbo. This year, we aren't as blindsided - everyone knows more about who they are and what they scheme.

This is really going to be their only opportunity to pick against Clemson all year, until at least December so they've got to take it.
