Who's gonna have the tougher job?

Aug 21, 2019, 1:20 PM

Opponent DC's trying to stop us, or opponent OC's trying to keep up with us? The SEC's greatest team of all time had to start going for it on 4th down in the second quarter of the NC game and still got boat raced by almost 30 points. Might be a good time to buy Tylenol or JD stock. I see a lot of both being used by opponent coaches next year (looking at you Sarkasian).

Jimbo is going to make it his personal mission to try and outsmart Venables using his tendencies against him.

still remember coming into the 2016 season, all these same "greatest offense ever" comments were being thrown around, and we came out of the gate sputtering. Although we certainly got it together at the end of the season, winning the Natty, it still took awhile for the offense to click. Each year is different.

It's opponent's OCs that worry me.

When guys start breaking tendencies and taking unnecessary chances because they know they are outmatched, it can be very tough to prepare for and defend that in the moment.

A lot of times this can lead to upsets or blow outs. If the strange plan from the OC works then it can throw us off of our game. If it doesn't work, then a major beat-down follows.

Underestimating the effects of losing 6 starters in the front 7. Don’t get me wrong I don’t think we’ll have a bad season, I think 2019 will go a lot like 2015 & 2016, were we went 28-2 and won a National Title. If you recall our only two losses our offense scored 40 and 42 points and still lost. We will have a lot of shoot outs this season, if you remember in 2015 our defense gave up 32 and 37 points in back to back games against U5Sjr and UNC. Our front 7 is talented but very inexperienced and that will cause busted plays.

On any given Saturday there are plenty of upsets. Plus at times, a football takes funny bounces.

Whoa there big fellow, just slow yourself down. This here is the PRESEASON, golldarnit. Looking back at bad things that happened in the past, pointing out honest to goodness bad possibilities and trying to drag regrettable facts and conclusions into the football talk before the first live ball is actually teed up is not within the rules of PRESEASON. Your previous post is therefore wiped out, you've been set back 15 big yards and now you can try your little post again. Just don't forget it is PRESEASON.
