Is Reggie Herring DC for the Texans? Terrible prevent

Mar 20, 2024, 6:59 PM

defense allowed Brees to dink & dunk his way down the field. Told wife there was too much time on the clock after DW4's & Nuk's heroics.

No he is not. Romeo Crennel is the defensive coordinator

for the Texans. Last I heard Reggie Herring is the LBs coach for the Denver Broncos.

quotes during the early Bowden era. Sadly he was actually right in many ways but Reggie wasn't one of those coaches to look at the positive side but instead to often make excuses.

Herring was screwed by Bowden because Bowden kept all the incoming talent on offense while giving the defense the players who were too slow or just weren't working out on offense.

We'd have a 3rd or 4th string RB or WR that was faster than anyone playing DB/S.

When you have a limited amount of talent coming in each year and you keep all of it on one side of the ball, the other side isn't going to be very good.

That's why Herring was upset.

Herring was a good coach, but you can only do so much with limited talent.

Say what? You sometimes see a player like Kendrick change positions, but it's not like it happens all the time, or that our defense is currently as good as it is because it's full of former offensive players who moved over.

Saints DC for not playing prevent and allowing WR's to get behind the DB's.

True Deja good point!***

Yes...but DW4 can throw the long ball (and short ball) so

DC has to pick his poison. Brees lives by the 5-15 yarders.

Didn't help that JJ Watt was non-existent...

Sep 10, 2019, 10:09 AM

He got owned all game by a rookie RT. Not a good look for him.

to be fair, Ramczyk is in his 3rd year and was 2nd team All Pro last year.

Agreed - horrible but that is what the Texans have done***

That final catch by the Saints...the receiver was on the ground...if the defender simply had not touched him to down him the clock would have expired.

I know hindsight is 20/20 but 2 freaking seconds...

The receiver gave himself up so he would've been called down regardless.

Do you work for espn?

Sep 10, 2019, 10:32 AM

Why did you choose the last drive only ?

Houston had plenty of opportunities to put that game away. They couldn't stop N0 at all in the 2nd half. The Houston offense needed to hold the ball as long as they could.

Why focus on Houston's DC? Why not Houston's QB who threw a pick?

Probably because the QB had over 400 yards of offense with 4 touchdowns while the defense gave up over 500 yards?
