What's your most treasured Clemson football memorabilia?

Long before all the students rush the field at Clemson Football games, all the kid at the games would hit the field running trying to get chin straps from the football players. This is what started all my Clemson collection.
This one is from Ron Andreo who played from 1959 to 1961.

1981 Limited Edition National Championship print...
Jan 22, 2019, 7:29 PM
[ in reply to Re: What's your most treasured Clemson football memorabilia? ] |
|
My wife bought me a tiger print from a yard sale many years ago, hoping I would like it as a Clemson alum. Upon closer examination, and unbeknonst to her when she bought it, she had purchased an embossed, limited edition print off the 1981 National Championship.
The print is just a tiger relaxing on rock, with the Clemson University logo embossed on the bottom, along with the 1981 National Champions.
I was a sophomore during that Championship year, so the print holds fantastic memories of my youth.
It hangs well framed on one wall of my office. On the other wall is a framed print of the 2016 Championship.
Now, I'm thinking through how I could put Th' Twins (2016, 2018) on either side of my limited edition print.
I'll worry about future Championship prints on the when it comes, as I am confident it will with CDS at the helm.

I have a ton of Clemson stuff, but nothing makes more proud (than a ticket stub from the Louisville game this year) no historical value except of course the 77 burger we put up against them, but it was my 5 year old daughters first game. I knew for me it only took one game and I was hooked on Clemson, but I never would have guessed one game would create such a "Clemson Monster" out of a little 5 year old girl.

to take out a subscription to a weekly college football rag he represented & was selling to up his retirement funds.
Sorta sad in a way, not his wanting to continue to work at the Athletic office into his 70’s & be around the program, but needing supplemental income as I do too in old age.
Coach would not believe the multi-million salaries of today especially since his top yearly income was less than $75,000 imho.
PS: As Orange Lightning stated..add my 1959 orange Rat Cap with my future wife’s name penned on the underside of bill.

1959 Sugar Bowl game jersey

We beat LSU, called, Sugar Blues! Unfortunately hubby wore for years doing yard work and it's been thru the wash so much it's quite faded. The idea of saving as valuable didn't register with us in the 60s.

Mine are different than just football, so a combo of CLEMSON football and my experience at school:
Rat Hat (B-9 Johnstone) Old Slide rule that was commonly used in those days
Football related: Bottle from 1981 championship Program from UGA/CLEMSON game in 1981
I probably like the Rat Hat better than anything else, but that's just me.

I have a Tiger Rag signed by Jerry Butler and one signed by Mike O'Cain.
My favorite may be a football signed by the entire 1981 football team. The pregame show had a drawing before each game for a ball that season (later ruled to be against NCAA rules, so they stopped). As I recall, I won it before the Wake game, which was the only home game I missed due to a marching band contest. That is why I really wanted us to score more against UL so I could see 80 with my own eyes. I must say, thought, two National Championships in three years is much better than 80 points in a game.
I also have an orange, purple and white hand stitched quilt that my wife made me for Christmas soon after we were married. She's a UNC grad. It is an AWESOME quilt.

Not as much as some others but: 1)Autographed caps by both Tommy Bowden and Dabo. 2)One of those small red footballs autographed by C.J. and James Davis. 3)Framed ticket from the 100th meeting between Clemson/Carolina and Bowden Bowl V. 4)Lifesize poster of C.J. That's all for now but hoping to add a few more things as time goes by.

Likely the picture of me and my son in the stands with the team celebrating the 2016 championship behind us.
But as for a thing? A cross section of the goal post from the first time a son beat a father in NCAA football (Bowden bowl 2003) signed by Tommy.

Piece of goalpost fabric from 1927 beatdown of chickens in Columbia. Cadets took posts back to Clemson, where each cadet was given a piece of the fabric used to wrap the posts, before the posts themselves were burned. One of the military academies (Westpoint I think) is credited with beginning the "tear down the goalpost" craze in the mid 1920's.

This photo of my dad at the 2005 triple OT loss to Miami. It would be his last game as he lost a battle with cancer 2 months later. The photo was tsken without his knowledge by someone who sat beside him and then signed by about 20 others that all sat together for over 15 years. Another one of those things that makes Clemson special.

An “Original Tiger Rag” with autographs from the 78/79 football team including Steve Fuller, Jerry Butler, Jeff and Joe Bostic, etc. I got it for a Christmas present for my stepbrother in my freshman year at Clemson. In 1981, my stepbrother was killed in an auto accident. The following year my mother returned the Rag to me as a present, framed. Sorry I don’t have a pic to share in my phone

It’s probably this. A personalised and autographed football. On it, Perry Tuttle drew the play that won the ‘81 championship, personalized it to me, and signed it. The piece above it is pretty good too.

Honestly, it's technically not actually Clemson. Memorabilia at all. A few years ago my wife and I traveled to last Vegas for vacation. One day we rented a car and drove out to death valley California and I pick up a small rock to bring home. I ended up 3D printing a replica stand and it sits on top.

I have so many items.
I have a 1928 stuffed Clemson tiger that is orange and purple and has Clemson on its side. I also have a Clemson football player doll with block letter "C" on his uniform. The doll has a plastic head and a fabric body. It was the leather helmet days.
I also have a tiger rag quilt that my sister-in-law made me with all of my tiger rags including many signed by players and coaches.
Finally, I have 2016 National Championship picture, where I located myself in the stands.
I also have a ticket stub for every Clemson bowl game since 1989. I hadn't missed one since that date.

My Signed Copy Of....

Coach Howard's autobiography . I stood in line on a Friday evening at The Book Bag in downtown Charleston to get Coach Howard to sign the dozen or so copies that I had bought to give out as Christmas gifts . I was the last person in line and when Coach Howard say that stack he asked if he could take a few minutes to rest his hand, then he's sign them and write the personal messages that would go along with them.
Coach, myself and the gentlemen that ghost wrote the book talked and Coach told me some funny football stories. It is perhaps one of my most treasured Clemson memories .
